Dedicated to giving back, Darwin Horan supports several nonprofit organizations, including Special Olympics, which helps people with developmental and intellectual disabilities improve their self-confidence while gaining access to specialized health care.

Recently, Special Olympics teamed with MetLife Foundation to bring Special Olympics Young Athletes to Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Over the course of three years, a $1.5 million gift will help Young Athletes drastically expand programming and meet the needs of thousands more young people. The program provides inclusive sport programs for children with disabilities between the ages of 2 and 7.

Young Athletes helps individuals develop basic sports skills, as well as social and cognitive skills. These skills lay a foundation for future success. In addition to funding the expansion of the program, MetLife will encourage its employees in this part of the world to volunteer with Young Athletes and help ensure the success of the new opportunities.
